Jim was content.
Most of her crew had gotten the shore leave they so desperately needed, finally; she herself wasn't planning on participating, seeing as how she had some work to catch up on, but she was assured that the planet was entirely beautiful and peaceful - all in all perfect for the crewmember in need of some rest.
She was halfway through a stack of PADDs when Uhura informed her Dr. McCoy was calling from the planet; she pushed them aside for the moment and prepared to fend off another attempt to get her to beam down.
"Yes, Bones?"

But the Bridge was changing - subtly, and the people on it were - she knew what the Kelvin looked like, she knew the crew, looked up the files and pictures and every time she went through this damn test, she thought was this what it was like? Someone walked up for her orders (Lieutenant Thompson, just transferred) and she punched him in the jaw.
Abruptly, the bridge disappeared.
